our love in october: cooking class bridal shower - part 1

Today I am so excited to share with you the lovely Part 1 of Love In October’s ‘cooking class bridal shower’. Every gorgeous detail was captured by the fabulous Jenny Cuerel. This themed bridal shower was inspired by the idea of how wonderful it would be to teach a new bride how to cook (more inspiration details here).

I chose the rustic backdrop of the Brisbane Powerhouse for the shower. I wanted a tea party feel with a touch of farmer’s markets. We were surrounded by enchanting gardens, gorgeous big trees and the rustic red brick remnants of the Powerhouse and its market location.

I selected a feminine colour palette of pastel pinks, blues and lavender with a touch of grey and silver. I also used fresh flowers in shades of white, lavender and green and used a mixture of vintage glass milk bottles and glass mason jars as vases.

A dessert bar of goodies were all displayed on a white chest of drawers with pretty handmade pastel coloured pom-pom garlands hanging above. The desserts included a vanilla layered cake with raspberries, raspberry and lavender macarons, vanilla cupcakes and iced doughnuts. For a sweet feminine touch and to tie in with the soft colour palette, the baked treats were placed on glass and ceramic cake plates with glass domes.

Decorating the desserts where a mixture of sweet miniature handmade tags (reading ‘Yum’ and ‘I Do’) and larger tags (reading ‘Love Cake’, ‘Love is Sweet’, ‘Eat Me’ and ‘Sweets and Treats’).

For favours, each guest was given a glass mason jar finished with a fabric topper, tied with string and labelled with ‘Kiss the Cook, She’s Cute’ and ‘I Heart Confetti Cookies’ handmade tags. Each jar was filled with baked confetti cookies (miniature heart-shaped shortbread cookies iced in pink and white).

Before the guests could enjoy the dessert bar, they had fun cooking and creating some of the bride’s favourite (and easy to make) desserts. On the ‘cooking and creation’ menu where doughnuts and cupcakes. Each baker was given a unique apron to wear, the right ingredients (in ceramic measuring and egg cups) and an easy to follow recipe to create some delicious treats.

If you want to re-create a cooking class themed shower you could choose a mixture of mains and desserts or choose a theme (desserts) like I did.

Please pop back tomorrow for Part 2 of this bridal shower – the enchanting tea party garden setting.

  2. This is one of the prettiest "interactive" bridal shower ideas I've ever seen! Lovely decorating ideas that are so doable, too!
